Gary Lu, CPA, is a seasoned finance and operations executive recognized for building resilient businesses and leading transformation across public companies and high-growth startups.
Currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Biomerica, Inc., a publicly traded MedTech company, Gary brings over 20 years of experience leading finance, operations, and the commercialization of innovative products. He has overseen large capital raises, M&A, and enterprise system rollouts, helping companies scale through both growth and reinvention.
Gary’s work has been recognized by the LA Times and the Orange County Business Journal, where he was named among the region’s leading CFOs.
The son of immigrants, Gary graduated from UCLA and became a licensed CPA. His own experience navigating identity, opportunity, and career uncertainty led him to found Forge Optima, a nonprofit helping students, from elementary school through college, develop a strong sense of self, explore career paths, and build financial literacy through purpose-driven life design.
He also leads the Forge Optima Collective, a network of professionals who mentor students and early-career talent, bridging the gap between education and opportunity through community guidance and real-world insight.
Outside of work, you’ll find him mentoring others, speaking at universities, spending time with his family, or making music. He’s passionate about storytelling, leadership development, and helping the next generation move forward with confidence and purpose.
