Marie Murphy, Ph.D.

Dr. Marie Murphy is a non-judgmental infidelity coach. She helps people who are engaging in infidelity to deal with their feelings, clarify what they want, and make decisions about what they’re going to do. While there is abundant support available to people who have been cheated on, few compassionate (and truly helpful!) resources exist for the folks who are doing the cheating. Cheating, or engaging in infidelity can take many different forms and occur in a diverse array of contexts. Marie has experience helping people who are engaging in all kinds of infidelity – from folks in classic affair situations, to those who are the “other person,” to people who are in non-monogamous relationships but have stepped outside of the agreements they’ve made with their partner(s), and beyond.

Marie hosts the podcast Your Secret is Safe with Me which explores the topic of infidelity from a non-judgmental perspective. On the show she offers her unique perspectives on infidelity, interviews professionals with complementary expertise, and talks with individuals who share what they’ve learned from their own experiences with infidelity.

Marie earned her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, San Diego and her B.A. in sociology and human sexuality studies from San Francisco State University. Among her many other credentials, she is trained and certified as a life coach from Martha Beck’s Wayfinder Coach Training and the Life Coach School.

Marie is proud to have served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia from 2000 – 2003.

When she isn’t helping her clients navigate the complexities of their infidelity situations, Marie is kept busy by her two West Highland White Terriers, Julius and Lakshmi.
