Mike Chiv is a finance and accounting recruiter dedicated to connecting exceptional talent with opportunities that move careers forward. He specializes in placing CFOs and the finance leaders who sit below them — Controllers, VPs of Finance, and Directors — and has made it his mission to challenge the notion that the path to the top takes decades. The timeline for a finance executive’s career is shifting, and Mike is helping lead that change.

His clients span biotech, technology, defense, and financial services, and he brings a practitioner’s perspective that sets him apart. Mike began his career in Marriott’s Financial Leadership Program, supporting two Bay Area hotels before transitioning into FP&A at Rakuten. He carried that operational grounding into recruiting, where he went on to build and lead teams of five to eight and generate nearly $4.5 million in division revenue.

Mike is a first-generation American, born to parents who fled Cambodia in the aftermath of the Khmer Rouge regime. That background shapes everything — how he works, who he roots for, and where he spends his time outside the office.

Mike is deeply committed to expanding access to opportunity. He serves on the board of PICS (Partners in Career Success), a nonprofit supporting first-generation high school students in East County San Diego as they navigate college and early careers. He is also a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters, and regularly volunteers at career events and resume workshops at the University of San Diego, University of California San Diego and San Diego State University — investing in the next generation of professionals the same way others once invested in him.
